QR-Codes as a part of the TIS marking

The requirement to add a QR-code to the TIS label in Thailand was postponed until July 2021.

As we informed in one of the previous insights (link), QR-codes were supposed to accompany the TIS-labelling of products sold in Thailand.  This requirement was introduced in the Ministerial Regulation Prescribing Description, Production and Method of Displaying of Standard Marks on the Industrial Products B.E.2563 (2020) and was expected to come into force on 21 January 2021.

However, recently Thai Institute of Standards (TIS) decided to postpone implementation for another 180 days, until 20 July 2021.  This decision was made following the letter from the Federation of Thai Industries in which it requested TIS to consider extending the period of enforcement of the said ministerial regulations for another 6 months so that for enterprises have more time to prepare.

The official information about the postponement can be found on the TIS website here.
