New TIS marking requirements
Thailand is amending its regulations on marking requirements in the TIS product conformity assessment system
Recently, Thailand announced two new regulations on the TIS marking which will repeal the existing rules. They will prescribe the requirements relating to the description of standard marks displayed on the industrial products in accordance with Section 16 and Section 20 and 21 of the Industrial Product Standards Act B.E. 2551 (1968).
The two regulations in question are:
- Ministerial Regulation Prescribing Description, Production and Method of Displaying of Standard Marks on the Industrial Products B.E.2563 (2020) (Link)
- Ministerial Regulation on Rules and Procedures on Application, Issuance of License to Display Standard Marks on the Industrial Products, License to Manufacture and License to Import for Sale in the Kingdom of the Industrial Products B.E. 2563 (2020) (Link)
According to the new regulations, the standard mark shall be clearly visible, prominent and indelible on industrial products or also on their packaging, bundle, wrapper or parcel. Upon displaying the standard mark, the followings shall be presented: Industrial product standard number permitted and related electronic information beneath or at the side of the standard mark as well as the licensee’s full name or abbreviation or registered trademark in proximity to the standard mark.
