Inclusion of QR codes in the BSMI marking in Taiwan

Taiwan published a Proposal for Amendments to Regulations Governing the Use of Commodity Inspection Mark

The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) of Taiwan is proposing to amend the “Regulation Governing the Use of Commodity Inspection Mark” to introduce QR code as additional labeling requirement, which will enable consumers to access the compliance information of the product by simply scanning the QR code with their smart devices.

The proposed amendments include the timing of applying for QR code (adding a new paragraph under Article 3) and method of affixing the QR code (adding a new paragraph under Article 9).  The BSMI will announce the specific products that will be required to bear the QR code after adoption of the amendments.
