End of transition period for verification of conformity
In Morocco, the tolerance period for products subject to verification of conformity in country of export ends on 1 January 2021.
The Moroccan authorities announced officially that the tolerance period for products subjected to verification in country of export will end on 1 January 2021. Starting from that day, all industrial products subject to verification on conformity in the country of export must present a certificate of conformity from an accredited body in order to get a clearance at destination.
The possibility to submit for control products not provided with certificates of conformity abroad at Moroccan border posts has been granted to importers since June 19, 2020. It followed the expiration of the transition period to the new import control system, due to constraints related to the context of Covid 19. Now, this possibility ends on 31 December 2020.
Therefore, in accordance with the new import control system, only a few product groups will be allowed to undergo a verification at the Moroccan border. For the rest of the industrial products concerned, the control will be carried out in the countries of export. Nevertheless, cargoes shipped without a certificate of conformity to Morocco before January 1, 2021 may be subject to inspection on arrival at Moroccan border posts.
