New Regulation on Radio Equipment in Turkey

On the 5 November 2020, the new Regulation on Radio Equipment numbered 2014/53/AB entered into force.

Regulation on Radio Equipment 2014/53/AB was announced by the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority (“ICTA”) in its Decision No: 2020/DK-TED/281.  It establishes general requirements for the conformity of radio equipment in Turkey.  The Regulation is, in principle, based on the EU RED Directive.

It further brings out certain obligations to manufactures including ensuring that the radio equipment is designed and manufactured in accordance with the general requirements, drafting a technical file including all the necessary information, issuing a ‘EU Declaration of Conformity’ and attaching the ‘CE’ mark.

So far, the binding radio regulation in Turkey was the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Regulation 1999/5/AT (also based on the previous EU law, the so called R&TTE directive), which was now repealed.
