New radio type approval regulation published in Senegal

The Senegalese Telecommunication Authority ARTP issued updated type approval regulations for radio products.

The Decision N 2021-011 of ARTP changes the existing radio type approval procedure from 2004.  In comparison to the previous regulation, several changes will be implemented, e.g.:

  • the certificate validity will be changed from unlimited to 5 years;
  • local testing will become mandatory.

Moreover, a label will be implemented.  It will have the form of a text box stating that the device was approved by ARTP and will contain the approval number.

The new regulation is no good news for manufacturers: it will mean yet another label that they will have to attach to their devices.
