Interim Radio Regulation on Automotive Radars

Several months ago, we informed about a public consultation on a new regulation for automotive radars in China (see EFS Insight). Now, the final version was published.

The Regulation issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stipulates the use of a 76-79GHz band for vehicle radar devices in such scenarios as self-adaptive cruise control, collision prevention, blind-spot detection, lane change assistance, parking assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, and pedestrian detection.

It will become effective as of March 1, 2022. After March 1, 2022, type approval applications for radio equipment for automotive radars in the 24.25-26.65 GHz frequency band will no longer be accepted. 24.25-26.65GHz vehicle radars already placed on the market in compliance with prior regulations and 76-77GHz ranging radars put into use before will remain in use till unserviceable in principle.
