EU regulations for light sources became applicable

Yesterday, the EU Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations for light sources adopted in 2019 and revised in February this year became applicable in all EU Member States.

These regulations bring major changes for producers and end-users of lighting products.  The Energy Labelling Regulation (Regulation on energy labelling for light sources (EU) 2019/2015) now covers all light sources placed on the EU market and prescribes the rescaling of the energy label for light sources to the new A – G scale.

Detailed information on models placed on the EU market can be found in the European Product Database for Energy Labelling (EPREL) by scanning the QR code featured on the new energy labels.

The Ecodesign Regulation for light sources and separate control gear (EU) 2019/2020 introduces energy efficiency requirements that will ban some fluorescent and halogen lamps as of today and T8 linear fluorescent and other halogen lamps in two years’ time.
