Changes to the CCC certification rules
Recently, an update of the CCC certification system rules was published
In a recent announcement, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) informed about changes to the CCC self-declaration system. Manufacturers must actively monitor updates to relevant GB standards and ensure continued compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
When a new GB standard for a product is published, manufacturers must update their CCC self-declarations accordingly (within a from the moment of the entry info force of the standard). Otherwise, their self-declaration will expire.
However, for products that have been delivered, put on the market and are no longer produced before the implementation of the new version of the standard, there is no need to change the version of the standard in the self-declaration.
In addition to these obligations, the Chinese authorities have recently introduced further changes to the CCC framework. In January 2026, the CNCA announced that several product categories which previously allowed the use of the CCC Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDOC) system will return to the traditional CCC certification scheme. A total of 16 product categories from the automotive and industrial sectors are affected, including automotive safety components, electric tools and welding equipment.
From July 1, 2026, manufacturers will no longer be able to submit new CCC self-declarations for these affected product groups. Existing SDOC registrations must be converted to traditional CCC certificates before December 31, 2026. After January 1, 2027, the affected products must hold a valid CCC certificate and bear the CCC mark before they can be manufactured, imported, sold or used on the Chinese market.
These regulatory developments underline the importance for manufacturers and exporters to continuously monitor updates to GB standards, CCC implementation rules and catalogue changes issued by the CNCA.
