Consolidated INMETRO Ordinance for brake fluids

New consolidated requirements hydraulic brake fluids were published by Brazil

The Brazilian National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology – INMETRO, issued the Ordinance no. 456 of 16 November 2021 that approves the consolidation of conformity assessment requirements of hydraulic brakes for motor vehicles.

In accordance with the new Ordinance, liquids for hydraulic brakes for motor vehicles, manufactured which are imported, distributed and marketed in the national territory must be subject to a compulsory conformity assessment through the certification mechanism.

The Conformity Identification Seal INMETRO must be stamped on the product label and, when applicable, on the packaging seal.

The Ordinance comes into force on December 1, 2021.  However, suppliers of fluids for hydraulic brakes for motor vehicles will have up to 12 (twelve) months, counted from this date, to adapt the layout of the Conformity Identification Seal.
