New Mexican radio type approval procedure

On February 25, 2021, a new Mexican radio conformity assessment procedure will enter into force.

As we wrote in our in insight published last year, the Telecommunication and Broadcasting Conformity Assessment Procedure in Mexico will come into force on February 25, 2021.  It establishes a new type approval procedure for products, equipment, devices and infrastructure for telecommunications or broadcasting that can be connected to a telecommunications network and / or make use of the radio spectrum.

New radio equipment regulation in Moldova

The Moldovan government’s Decision # 34 of 30 January 2019 containing the Technical Regulation on the placing of radio equipment on the market is coming into force in February.

The Technical Regulation partially transposes the EU RED Directive (Directive 2014/53/EU) into Moldovan law.  It sets out essential requirements for radio equipment placed on the market, obligations of manufacturers and importers, conformity assessment procedures, market supervision requirements etc.

ANATEL changes Radio Type Approval requirements

Brazils Telecommunication Authority ANATEL published Act No. 7280 which replaces Act No. 2222 from 2020. It will come into force on the 1st of June 2021.

Several changes were made in the new act, such as testing modalities, testing requirements and certification renewal deadlines. The new rules stipulated in the act apply to certificates issued through type testing with periodic evaluation under Act No. 2222, other product’s certificates stay valid until changes in the product itself are made.

New Radio Type Approval Procedure in Sri Lanka

On 16 December 2020, a new radio type approval procedure is coming into force in Sri Lanka

Recently, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) of Sri Lanka published “Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE) Type Approval Rules 2020” in the official Gazette.  They are applicable to all types of RTTE intended to be imported, marketed, manufactured or used in Sri Lanka.

New Regulation on Radio Equipment in Turkey

On the 5 November 2020, the new Regulation on Radio Equipment numbered 2014/53/AB entered into force

Regulation on Radio Equipment 2014/53/AB was announced by the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority (“ICTA”) in its Decision No: 2020/DK-TED/281.  It establishes general requirements for the conformity of radio equipment in Turkey.  The Regulation is, in principle, based on the EU RED Directive.

Vietnam introduces changes to its list of radio devices subject to type approval

Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has published a Draft Circular which shall replace Circular 05/2019/TT-BTTTT and establish a new list of radio products covered by the Vietnamese type approval. The existing list will not change completely, however, a few modifications will be introduced.

The Brazilian telecommunication authority ANATEL has announced a public consultation upon the list of products subject to the new radio type approval procedure. Already in October 2019, ANATEL published the Resolution 715 which updated conformity assessment and approval processes for telecommunication products.

New harmonized standards under the Radio Equipment Directive

An update of the list of harmonized standards that provide presumption of conformity with the essential requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) was published on the 5th of February 2020 by the European Commission in the Official Journal of the EU

Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/167 revises Annexes of the RED Directive by adding six new versions of standards to the list.
