New Guidelines for Vanuatu Type Approval and SRDs

Vanuatu introduces the General User Radio Licence (GURL) Guideline for its National Type Approval Framework and Short-Range Devices (SRDs)

On the 30th April 2020, the Telecommunications, Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR) introduced the framework “General User Radio Licence (GURL) Guideline for National Type Approval Framework and Short-Range Radiocommunications Devices (SRDs) for the Republic of Vanuatu” to further regulate its radiocommunications and telecommunications sector.

The main objective of this act is to “impose restrictions or limitations upon the importation, sale or use of any equipment used or likely to be used in connection with radiocommunications” (Section 7, Paragraph 7 (4) (f)). It contains updated technical requirements (which adhere to European EN Standards), permissible frequencies and output powers for specific Short-Range Devices.

A radio type approval procedure had already been in place in Vanuatu before the guidelines were published, however there were no written instructions to follow.

The guidelines can be found under the following link.
