Changes in Moroccan import control program for industrial products

New amendments extend the transitional period for the new import control program by two months

Morocco has informed WTO members that it has extended the transition period for the new control procedure (Verification of Conformity) for two months. Initially scheduled was a period from the 1st of February 2020 until the 20th of April 2020, which will now end on the 19th of June 2020.

From the 20th of June, importers have to assess the conformity of their industrial products that are subject to regulatory control. Depending on the product category, the goods have to be checked either in the country of dispatch or directly at the Moroccan border upon importation. All products have to be checked by an independent and accredited third party.

Among many others, automotive parts (such as for example tires, batteries, brake linings, glazing, filter elements and mechanical control cables) are checked on site in Morocco. It is the duty of the importer to contact the accredited third party.
