RoHS in Eurasian Economic Union
New regulations on hazardous substances in Eurasian Economic Union are coming into force soon
Electrotechnical products marketed in the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union whose members are Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan) will require a confirmation of conformity from the 1st of March 2020. The manufacturers will have to prove that their products comply with the Technical Regulations “EAEU TR 037/2016” for restricting of the use of hazardous substances in electrotechnical and radioelectronic products.
The regulation is based on the EU’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive (Directive 2011/65/EU) which aims at limiting the content of several chemical substances in electrotechnical and electronic products. However, instead of a simple proof of conformity (such as a manufacturer’s declaration of conformity in the EU), a RoHS test report from a test laboratory must be used as the basis for the confirmation of conformity.
