Delegated Regulation regarding chemical substances

Recently, proposals to introduce and update harmonized classifications and labels of certain substances have been submitted to the European Chemicals Agency.

The European Chemicals Agency has been notified of suggestions to update, introduce and delete harmonized classifications and labels of certain substances in accordance with Article 37 of CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

This delegated Regulation has been published in relation to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, which mainly contains consistent requirements for the classification, labeling and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures according to the United Nations Globally Harmonized System (GHS). According to the regulation, companies must properly classify, label and package hazardous chemicals before placing them on the market.

Subsequently, the Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) issued several opinions on these proposals. Based on these findings, CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 has now been amended accordingly by Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/692 of 16 February 2022. In detail, Annex VI of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 concerning the Annex to this Regulation ((EU) 2022/692) has been amended.

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. It shall apply from 23 November 2023.
