Colombia sets out to harmonize safety regulations for motorcycles

The Colombian Ministry of Transport proposes to establish the technical requirements for motorcycle-type motor vehicles marketed in Colombia 

The first Draft Resolution  mainly focuses on issuing the Technical Regulation applicable to pneumatic tyres. The Draft includes specific technical requirements, digits and applicable tests, the equivalence system, manufacturer and supplier responsibilities, and monitoring, surveillance and compliance checks that have be approved. They set out to harmonize Regulation No 75 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations (UN/ECE) and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 119. 

Further, the second Draft Resolution establishes the requirements applicable to braking systems (ABS,CBS) and their components for motorcycles marketed in Colombia. In order to advance the harmonization process of this law, the Ministry of Transport mainly focuses on Regulation No78, No 90 of the Economic Commission for Europe of the United Nations and also Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 122.
